About Me

WHO AM I

Hello! I’m Mabele Liango. I am a Cloud Security & Identity Engineer with a foot in two worlds: I am dual-based in Gainesville, GA (home to family) and The Colony, TX (where I live most of the year). I bridge the gap between “It works” and “It’s secure.” With over 4 years of experience in IT operations, my background isn’t just theoretical.

I spent years on the front lines as a System Administrator and IT Support specialist. I’ve dealt with the panic of hardware failures, the stress of real-world incidents, and the daily puzzle of user access.

Today, I focus on the ‘Build’ side of security. I help organizations stop putting out fires and start building fireproof infrastructure. I specialize in implementing Least Privilege (IAM), automating compliance (CSPM), and securing infrastructure as code (Terraform/Python).

My goal is to support the business by:

  • Hardening Infrastructure: Configuring VPCs, Firewalls, and Security Groups to isolate networks and strictly block DDoS attacks.
  • Protecting Data: Managing secrets, enforcing encryption, and ensuring compliance (CIS, GDPR) so sensitive info stays sensitive.
  • Defending Applications: Applying OWASP standards and conducting Vulnerability Management to reduce the attack surface.
  • Automating Security: Integrating DevSecOps into the CI/CD pipeline and centralizing Threat Detection to catch anomalies before they become breaches.

I am currently open to opportunities in:

  • Cloud Security Engineering
  • AWS IAM & Identity Governance
  • Detection Engineering & DevSecOps

My Story

My journey didn’t start in the cloud; it started with cables. I began my career troubleshooting physical infrastructure and supporting end-users.

This experience taught me the most valuable lesson in security, one that pure analysts often forget: Availability is just as important as Confidentiality. (If the server is secure but nobody can log in, I haven’t done my job).

After transitioning to an Information Security Analyst role, I realized that reactive security (staring at alerts) wasn’t enough for me. I wanted to be proactive. I wanted to build the systems that prevented the alerts in the first place.

That drive led me to Western Governors University, where I completed my B.S. in Cybersecurity and Information Assurance and graduated in November 2025, and to my current obsession: AWS Security and DevSecOps.

Why “Cybersecurityjunior”?

You might wonder why I call this platform ‘Junior’ when I have years of experience. Two reasons.

First, the philosophy: In cybersecurity, the moment you think you are an ‘Expert’ and stop learning, you become a vulnerability. I will always approach this field with a “Junior” mindset, hungry to learn the next thing.

Second, the history: I was born Junior M. Liango. In my home country, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, “Junior” signifies that you carry all of your father’s names. It is a title of legacy. When I became an adult, I chose to bear that legacy fully, adopting my father’s name, Mabele.

So, Cybersecurityjunior.com is my digital legacy. It is where I document my path from Analyst to Engineer. I believe that the best way to master a concept—whether it’s DNS Tunneling or AWS Lambda permissions—is to teach it.

For Visitors

If you are reading this, I am building this resource for you. I write about the labs I solve (TryHackMe/HackTheBox), the certifications I take, and the scripts I write.

My goal is to make complex cloud, cloud security, and cybersecurity concepts accessible to everyone, regardless of their background or first language.

Beyond the Terminal

When I’m not configuring S3 bucket policies or writing Python scripts, I’m usually offline disconnecting from the digital world.

  • The Guitarist: My roots are in Gospel music. I grew up playing bass guitar in my father’s church. After a 10-year hiatus, I’ve returned to music, but this time I’m learning the electric guitar. It is mainly for my own peace of mind, but I also serve my local church worship team when needed.
  • The Rider: I have a passion for motorcycles. Learning to ride taught me situational awareness—a skill that applies surprisingly well to threat detection!
  • The Linguist: Originally from the Democratic Republic of Congo, I am fluent in French and English. I love connecting with the global cybersecurity community.
  • The Builder: Whether it’s a new home lab setup or a content strategy, I am always building something.
